Self-introduction
Born in Kyoto in 1985. After binding my first picture book entitled MEmOry, I have aimed at becoming a picture book writer. Most of my stories are on the themes of living or dying on the basis of emotions, such as heartrending sorrow and emptiness that is sometimes beyond description. My pen name “CANDLE” is from such stories. Also, I am particular about printing paper, so a different kind of paper is used for each page which is suitable for the picture on the page. I hope readers of my picture books will enjoy not only the pictures and stories, but also the feel of the pieces of paper used.
